About Us

Standing Stone Drawing office Supplies has become Limited from 1st July 2004

Managing Director: Gary George Ritson, National Sales Director: Simon John Buckton, Technical Director: Andrew John Neal.

Company Reg No. 5128817 VAT Reg. No 556 2515 40

Standing Stone Drawing Office Supplies began trading in sales year 1991/1992 and operates out of several units in Tyne and Wear, Northumberland, Teesside and most recently Liverpool with the opening of our Ellesmere Port branch.

Thanks to a successful sales team lead by Simon Buckton, we can supply to any address in the United Kingdom, usually on a next day basis.Gary Ritson manages the Matfen complex and Catherine Hiley is principal contact at our Darlington office. The company is proud to be the regional outlet for OCÉ’ UK and Hewlett Packard products.

From the start, the company’s brief was to be able to provide a fully comprehensive service and supply customers with a full range of all types of drawing office requisites that represent the best value for money on the market. This still remains the overall criteria today.

In addition to the sale of drawing office materials, plan printing machines and CAD plotters, Standing Stone D.O.S. also offer a complete print machine repair service for which we have several OCÉ certificated engineers. We also offer a full repair cover for all Hewlett Packard inkjet plotters as well as being able to repair Diazo machines and even drawing boards!!

Both our Matfen and our Darlington branches offer a Reprographic Service with plan printing and scanning services for customers who prefer us to cater for their day-to-day printing demands. Full sized drawings, even in colour, can be produced and we also accept drawings via e-mail, disc and hard copy. We can enlarge and reduce drawings and are able to offer a collection/delivery service upon request.

Some customers prefer to fulfil their daily plan-printing needs by taking out a contract for facilities management and we are always keen to discuss terms for the provision of this service anywhere in the United Kingdom. We are able to provide a complete in-house print division including operator staff and up to the minute technical equipment, charging either by monthly fee or per print.

The company has grown very rapidly in the last decade and is now the largest independent supplier in the north of England and Scottish Borders. However, in response to an increasing demand, Standing Stone D.O.S. now have a strong customer list throughout the entire length of Great Britain.

We deal with many local authorities and public bodies as well as a host of architects, civil and consulting engineers. References can be obtained from customers upon request.

"I would like to take the oppertunity to thank you and your staff at Standing Stone for the recent installation of the Oce TCS500. During analysis of the market to find a replacement colourplotter for the Xerox X2 Tech which we were using the information provided by Standing Stone and the competative pricing policy you were prepared to provide for the supplies made the decision very easy."

“We recommend Standing Stone to others as being a specialist company experienced in being able to solve the individual needs of both reproducing and electronically filing large format drawings.”

“I would like to thank you for the excellent service we have received, all our orders have been dealt with promptly and efficiently and delivered direct to our print room as promised.”

“Besides the time we have saved using the TDS300 compared to a conventional printer we are most impressed at the accuracy & consistency of the prints.”

“We are delighted with the new system….It has allowed us to produce drawing prints quickly and efficiently and the copy quality is excellent.  We are sure that with this equipment [Oce TDS 400 hybrid], we will be able to give an even better service to our many clients.”

Since having the use of the OCE TDS600 machine for nearly a year we have had no mechanical or technical failure disrupt our work.  The machine prints to a high speed and as we have the folding machine it is simply a case of just walking from our desks to collect, then proceed back to work.”

“The advice and knowledge that yourself [Standing Stone] provided proved invaluable and we are totally satisfied with our choice.  The TCS 400 is allowing us to produce extremely high quality prints in a highly efficient time.”

“We have been using the above plotter [Oce TCS 400] for five months and are very pleased with the performance and ease of use compared to our previous plotters.  The service from Standing Stone and Oce during installation and support has been second to none, and I look forward to working with you in the future.”

“We have had considerable dealings with the above company [Standing Stone] and have found them to be very reliant and helpful…We leased an Oce TDS600 and they give us all the help and information required and therefore we have no hesitation in recommending this company”

“Standing Stone are now our first choice supplier for site photocopiers, large format printing and plotting equipment within our offices.  In all we are extremely happy with the service provided i.e. advice, supply and on-going service of our equipment.”

“We have used Standing Stone for about 10 years.  When we required a new A0 Black and White Plotter they supplied us with the Oce 9400 again at the best price and delivery.  With these machines they were delivered and installed quickly, efficiently and with the minimum of downtime to ourselves….Their service over the years has been excellent.”

“From the delivery and installation of the Hp500 plotter I purchased, to the speed that plan copying has been carried out, the service has been first class.  I would have no hesitation in recommending Standing Stone to anyone.”

"Just a few comments on our recent installation of the above equipment:

Delivery – Once the date and time had been agreed the delivery went ahead as planned with no problems. The driver and Andrew were most helpful and consideration was given to other equipment and people within the office

Installation – This was completed very smoothly in view of the fact that we had other engineers working in the room and were very limited for space.

Training – Andrew was exceptionally helpful in answering our queries and accommodating in fitting in with our timetable of when we were able to focus on the new equipment. His help in setting up a suitable recharge rate is much appreciated and means that we are able to use the printer and recharge with immediate effect.

Many thanks to all concerned"

6.11 comply with their description and any published specification;

6.2 Our undertaking in term 6.1 is subject to the following conditions:

6.2.1 some consumables need to be kept in environmental conditions which are either made clear in their packaging or are otherwise described or notified by us to you prior to their delivery date. If you do not keep relevant consumables in the required environmental conditions we cannot be held responsible for faults or problems (whether regarding the consumables themselves or their use with equipment) that arise as a result;

6.2.2 Some consumables we supply have shelf lives. The shelf lives of individual consumables will be made clear in their packaging or are as otherwise described or notified by us to you prior to their delivery date. 6.4 If faults do arise in the consumables which under these terms are our responsibility, you agree to notify us as soon as possible.

7. Our right to take the consumables back – Retention of Title

7.1 The ownership of the consumables will pass you only when you have paid for them. Until then you must site the consumables in your premises in such a way that we can easily identify them as our property.

7.2 Title of the goods remains vested in Standing Stone Drawing Office Supplies Limited until purchaser had paid purchase price in full.

7.3 If you fail to pay for the consumables ordered from us at or within the required time, we may take those consumables you have not paid for back from you. You will allow us access to your premises, or arrange access for us to other premises where the consumables may be stored, to allow us to do this.

If we so agree to you returning them to us then it shall beat your sole cost and expense and we shall upon their proper receipt in good condition either charge your account if you have previously paid us for them in full or make an additional administrative charge if you have not paid us for them in full, of either £20.00 or 20% of the original value invoiced by us for such goods, whichever is the greater.

The purchaser will be taken to have accepted the consumables if you do not indicate on the carriers delivery note at the time of delivery and in addition do not notify us within 48 hours of delivery of such discrepancies, damage or defects (where some were obvious on inspection) in order that we may make claim against our third party carriers, or within a reasonable time after delivery where such were not obvious on inspection.

9.2 May not reject the consumables once you have accepted them.

10. Limit of our liability

10.1 We are unable to undertake to you that the consumables comply with their description and any published specification, are of satisfactory quality and are suitable for use with the equipment we recommend they are used with (see term 6.1). However we have no control over the use to which the consumables are to be put by you nor are we able to gauge the impact their failure to comply with the undertaking in term 6.1 may have on your business. The price we charge for the consumables takes into account your acceptance that losses suffered by you as a result of the failure by us to comply with the terms of 6.1 are to be borne by you. We strongly recommend you insure against this risk.

10.2 The limit of our liability to you is in respect of consumables the repair, or at our option, replacement of faulty consumables where we accept responsibility under term 6. we are not responsible to you to any greater extent and in particular are not responsible for any indirect or consequential loss (financial or otherwise) which you may incur for whatever reason, as a consequence of our failure to comply with the terms of this agreement. This term does not operate to exclude or limit our liability in respect of death or personal injury arising from our negligence.

11. General

These circumstances would include, but not be limited to, accidents, natural disasters, labour disputes or shortages of material or labour.

11.2 Notices must be in writing and are sufficiently served if delivered by hand, sent by first class pre-paid or facsimile to us, at our registered office and to you, at your last address known to us.

11.3 This agreement is personal to you and you may transfer any of your rights or responsibilities under it without our prior written consent. We may arrange for another person to exercise our rights and/or carry out our responsibilities.

11.4 This agreement shall be governed by and interpretated under English law.
